Robert E. Wasson

Text Box:  Robert E. Wasson, 84, of Wilmington DE and Naples, FL died suddenly on January 14, 2013 in Naples, FL

Bob graduated from P.S. DuPont High School in 1947 and attended Purdue University. Following graduation, he was ordered to Active Duty as a 2nd Lt, and served in Korea. Later he was employed by the DuPont Co. His last employment was with the State of Delaware as a Purchasing Agent, retiring in 1988.

Bob proudly joined the Army Reserve in 1954, and retired as a Lt. Colonel in 1980. Bob was very active in several veteran organizations including Vice President-Army of the DE Reserve Officers Association, past President of the State Korean War Veterans Chapter, and a member of Delaware Veterans Post No. 1, and it's Honor Guard.  He was currently serving as a Commissioner on the State Commission of Veterans Affairs.

Bob was very active in Masonic organizations. A member of Granite-Corinthian Lodge No. 34, he was Past Grand High Priest of the Grand Royal Arch chapter of DE, 32nd degree Scottish Rite Mason, and active in various other bodies.

Bob was also Past Prior of the Delaware Priory of the Sovereign Military Order of the Temple of Jerusalem, and was honored with the Order of Merit.

Socially, Bob and his wife Marise were members of the University and Whist Club in Wilmington, DE, and also enjoyed many cultural events in both Wilmington, and Naples, FL

He is survived by his wife, Marise and her children, Bob's son David Wasson, grandson Brian Wasson, grand-daughters Nicole and Dawn Pierce, and 4 great grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his first wife, Joyce Brewer Wasson, and their sons Steven and Thomas Wasson.

A Memorial Service will be held at Delaware Veterans Post #1, 2535 Veterans Drive, Wilmington, DE 19810 on Sat. Feb 2, 2013, at 1:00pm.  His ashes will be placed in the Delaware Veterans Cemetery at a later date.

In Lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Wounded Warriors or Delaware Veterans Post #1.
