MICHAEL C. THOMAS

Text Box:  Michael C. Thomas, age 73, of Wilmington, DE, died suddenly on November 2, 2007.

Mike was born in Philadelphia, on Christmas Eve, to the late Michael and Bessie Thomas. He proudly served our country in the U.S. Army. Before retiring, Mike worked for the Department of Defense in Philadelphia.

During his retirement, Mike stayed active working part-time as the Post accountant for Delaware Veterans Post 1, where he was a life member. A Mason, Mike was a member of Granite-Corinthian Lodge # 34 and Scottish Rite Valley of Wilmington. An avid surf fisherman and member of Delaware Mobile Surf Fishermen Club, he had been fishing at the Indian River Inlet the day before his untimely death.

In addition to his parents, Mike was preceded in death by his sister, Dorothy M. Thomas. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Iva Boulden Thomas; their 2 sons and daughters-in-law, Michael A. and Debbie Thomas of Auburn, CA, and Brian D. and Christine Thomas of Wilmington, DE; and 2 grandchildren, Michael Andrew Thomas and Nicole T. Thomas.

A viewing was held from 7-9 pm, Wednesday, November 7, at the MCCRERY MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, 3924 Concord Pike, Talleyville (Route 202, south of Silverside Rd.), where a Masonic service was held at 9:15 am, Thursday, November 8 and the funeral service was held at 9:30 am, Thursday, November 8, followed by interment at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Bear, DE.
