JOHN FRANKLIN (Frank) TEMPLE

 

Age 76, of LeParc Condominiums, formerly of Delaire, Wilmington, died at his home on December 24, 2006.

 

Frank was born and raised in the Wilmington and Claymont areas and graduated from Claymont High School. He proudly served our country in the U.S. Army Military Police for 2 years.

 

Frank was a retired salesman for the Ellis Coffee Company and loved golf.

 

He was a delegate to the 1968 Democratic National Convention.

 

Frank was a long time member of Delaware Veterans Post # 1 where he had served as the Vice Commander, and as President of the Executive Board and was a proud member of Del Vets Honor Guard and had chaired numerous other committees.

 

His beloved wife of 21 years, Margaret "Peggy" Temple, died in 1997. He was also preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Helen, his brother, Richard, and his step-son, Gary Celeste, Frank is survived by his son, John F. Shannon (Anne); 3 brothers, Tom (Diane), William (Lorraine), and James; 1 sister, Cheryl Moore (Butch); 2 grandchildren, Amanda and Chris; nieces; nephews; and his special friend. Lucy Duko and her family.

 

A viewing was held from 12-2 PM, Thursday, December 28, 2006 at the McCrery Memorial Funeral Home, 3924 Concord Pike, Talleyville (Route 202, south of Silverside Rd.). The Mass of Christian Burial was at 10 AM, Friday, December 29, 2006 at Church of the Holy Child Catholic Church, 2500 Naamans Rd. Interment at All Saints Cemetery.

 

In lieu of flowers, Frank had suggested memorial contributions to The Gary Celeste Memorial Scholarship Fund, University of Delaware, Hullihen Hall, Newark, DE 19716.
