ROBERT H. TALLEY Obituary Robert H. “Bob” “Grandpa” Talley, Sr. passed away on September
26, 2022, surrounded by his family and friends, at the age of 92. Bob was predeceased by his father, Clarence Talley; his
mother, Clara Talley; his brother, John Talley; and his wife, Beverly (Hitchens) Talley. He is survived by his children, Robert
H. Talley, Jr. (Susan), Carol Talley-Gauge (Mitchell); grandchildren,
Jennifer DiStefano, Kristin Weaver (Scott), Robert
E. Talley, Ashley Hicks (Jason); great-grandchildren, Jayson Kuhn, Gianna DiStefano, Aiden Weaver,
Blake Weaver, Logan Hicks, Lily Hicks; and great-great-grandchild, Sophia

in their pickup truck camper and enjoying many cruises on popular cruise
lines. He also enjoyed the Pushmobile Derby and
NASCAR with his son winning the PM Derby, but his greatest love
were his children and grandchildren. He spent summers at Indian River
Inlet camping with his wife and children, later moving to a trailer in
Rehoboth Shores. There he enjoyed his bright orange pontoon boat Toonerville and his 1937 Chris-Craft, taking his family
out on Rehoboth Bay for a day of fun, fishing and crabbing or taking everyone
over to the Rusty Rudder and Dewey Beach. There were also trips to Rehoboth
Beach for walks on the boardwalk to get boardwalk fries, Dolle’s
caramel popcorn and fun games and rides . Bob was a Sea Scout, and in his teen years built a small boat
and sailed successfully on the Delaware River. In 1948 Bob enlisted in the
Naval Reserve becoming an Engineman rising to the Rank of E-6 Engineman First
Class, being honorably discharged in 1967. As a Navy veteran, Bob became a
member of Delaware Veterans (DEL VETS) Post #1 where he became a longtime
fixture where he enjoyed taking his grandchildren to see Mr. and Mrs. Claus
during many Christmas seasons and celebrating a great milestone 50th Wedding
Anniversary. A couple of weeks before his death, he was at “The Club” and was
honored as their longest living member. Bob’s commitment to country and
community led him to become a Boy Scout Leader helping boys to become
responsible community members keeping with the Scout Oath of that time, Duty
to God & Country, Others and Self. Bob continued to be a great mechanic
keeping everything in working order no matter what it was at the Sun Oil
Refinery, where he worked and retired from after 40+ years on the job.” Bob”,
