RAYMOND J. RODIER SR.

Text Box:  Raymond J. Rodier Sr. 88, of Garnet Valley, PA died on February 23, 2011 at Naamans Creek Country Manor.

 

Born to the late Edward and Genevieve Hanley Rodier and raised in Glenolden, PA, he resided for the past 10 years in Garnet Valley, PA, previously residing in Woodlyn and Norwood, PA. He owned and operated his own business, Lima Deli, in Lima, PA. Prior he was an accountant for G.E. for many years. A member of Del Vets in Wilmington, DE, American Legion Post 926 in Aston. He served in the Army during W.W. II in the 1st Div. Infantry "The Big Red One", landed on Omaha Beach on D-Day, later that year fighting in the Battle of the Bulge receiving a Bronze Star, Good Conduct medal and Service medal with 5 stars. He enjoyed tennis, golf, dancing and family vacations in Myrtle Beach..

 

He is preceded in death by wife Catherine T. McColgan Rodier who died in 2002, 3 children, Mary Theresa Rodier who died in 2005, Marianne and Joseph Rodier who both died as infants; 4 siblings, Patrick and Robert Rodier, Connie Haggerty and Rita Joy.


Survivors: Children Patricia (Francis) Keeney of Mullica Hill, NJ, Donna Schroeder of Wallingford, PA, Jean (Thomas) Wiggins of Murrells Inlet, SC, Joan (Robert) Anderson of Aston, PA, Catherine (Robert) Jenkins of Garnet Valley, PA, Deborah Tobey of Ridley Park, PA, Lorraine (Leo) Hackett of Wallingford, PA, Raymond (Carol) Rodier Jr. of West Chester, PA and Dianne Bradley of Milmont Park, PA; brother George (Ruth) Rodier; 26 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren.


Funeral Mass Monday 10 AM St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, 430 Valleybrook Rd., Chester Hts., PA.

 

Visitation: Sunday 6 to 8 PM and Monday 8:30 to 9:15AM at the Pagano Funeral Home, 3711 Foulk Rd., Garnet Valley, PA. Interment: Holy Cross Cemetery, Yeadon, PA.
