James P. "Pat" Mooney

Passed away peacefully Friday, November 6, 2015.

Pat was born April 25, 1932 in W. Pittston, PA and raised in Hazelton, PA. He was the 7th child of the late Gertrude Mooney. After serving in the US Army, Pat married his wife of 62 years, Betty Ann Neifert. He moved to Wilmington in 1952 to establish Mooney/Hill Carpentry Co. who he co-owned with is childhood friend, Charlie Hill. He stayed active in construction as a business owner and superintendent until his retirement.

Pat enjoyed playing golf, riding horses and spending time with his family. He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Ruth McGeehan, Joan Diksa and Kay Steckert; brothers, Lou, Maurice Mooney; and son, James Jr.

He is survived by his wife, Betty Ann Mooney; son Brian (Sharon) Mooney; daughter Michelle (Ron) Marini; grandchildren, Jennifer (Scott) Thompson, Tara and Jena Marini; and great grandchildren, Zach and Gavin Thompson

The family will have a celebration of Pat's life, Sunday, November 22nd from 1-4PM at DE Veterans Post #1, 2535 Veterans Dr., Wilmington DE 19810. Burial will be private at the Veterans Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donation can be made to the DE Humane Society, 701 A Street, Wilmington, DE 19801.
