CHESTER F. ‘Butch’ MODOWSKI

 

Age 85 passed away October 14, 2007, at Regency Health Care in North Wilmington, DE.

 

He was born and raised in Chester, PA to the late Joseph and France Wolski Modowski. He was employed as an over the road truck driver for Matlack for many years until his retirement. He was a member of the Teamsters, St. Helena's Catholic Church, US Navy Veteran of WWII, past Fire Chief of Lennox Park Fire Co., and he was an avid fisherman. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother. He was also a member of Delaware Veterans in Wilmington, DE.

 

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Lavinia O. Modowski, in August 2001; his siblings, Stanley, Helen, and Sophie; and his step children, Donald, Jack, and Joseph O'Hanlon. He is survived by his sister, Mildred (Julius) Todd of Wilmington, DE; step children, Elizabeth Curry of Wilmington, DE, Charles O'Hanlon of Linwood, PA, Joan Wilkerson of Jenison, MI, Thomas O'Hanlon of Wilmington, DE and his daughter-in-law, Carolyn O'Hanlon, with which he resided; 20 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great-grandchildren.

Relatives and friends are invited to his funeral service Friday, 10 am, in JOSEPH A. WARD FUNERAL HOME, INC., 1459 Market St., Linwood, PA, calling at the funeral home from 9:30 Friday morning. Burial in Delaware Veterans Cemetery, Bear, DE.
