Ronald W. Harrington

Ronald W. Harrington, loving husband and father, age 69, passed away peacefully at home of congestive heart failure on March 6, 2013 surrounded by his loving family.

Ron, a native of Wilmington, was born to Florence Harrington (nee Kowalski) and Walter Harrington. Ron graduated from Conrad High School and served in the Delaware National Guard as a sergeant. He worked at Wilmington Trust before becoming a partner at North Side Auto Sales. He was an active member of Delaware Veterans Post 1 (Del Vets) for 27 years. He was voted Del Vet of the Year in 2002.

Ron is survived by his devoted wife of almost 39 years, Mary Louise Harrington (nee Murray); his son David and daughter-in-law Julie; his son Ronnie and fiancee Nikki Essick; his grandson Patrick and two granddaughters Hannah and Sophia.

Ron loved spending time in Fenwick Island and taking trips to Cancun and Punta Cana, making friends wherever he went. He was well known for his deep feeling for all of the Philly Sports teams.

Family and friends are welcome to celebrate Ron's life at the McCRERY & HARRA Funeral Home, 3924 Concord Pike, Wilmington, DE 19803 at 10:30 am on March 9th. Visitation will be held at the funeral home prior to the service from 9-10:30 am. Interment will be private.
