John D. Franz

John D. Franz, aged 79, passed away peacefully on Monday January 25, 2016 after a short illness. Born in Utica, NY he was the son of the late Harry and Vivian (Rose) Franz. He is survived by his wife Ernestine of 56 years, Harry Franz Jr., brother, Susan, daughter, John, son, 2 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his daughter Debra Ann, and Jane, sister. John worked for the railroad, including Conrail as a contract investigator for 37 years. He was a member of Delaware Veterans Post #1 and a lifelong member of the Loyal Order of Moose. He played semi-professional baseball in Utica, NY and became an avid softball player upon retirement from baseball. John enjoyed running various softball tournaments throughout the area and managed several softball teams until his death. John’s favorite activities included running, playing cards, and watching sports. SERVICE: Saturday, January 30, 2016 at 11 A.M. at Resurrection Episcopal Church, Rockdale. 2131 Mount Rd., Aston, PA.
