MAYER
FALK Mayer Falk of Claymont, DE,
age 89, passed away suddenly on Saturday, September 10th, with his loving
wife Teresa (Scott) of 38 years by his side. He was born on August 3, 1933
the son of the late Jacob and Miriam (Abramson) Falk. Mayer enlisted in the Navy
when he was 17 and served aboard the USS Boxer during the Korean war. He
graduated from Baltimore College with a degree in accounting and worked as an
auditor, a collections manager, and a loan broker. He was an avid reader,
loved traveling with his wife, and spending time with family, especially his
daughters, Ellen Samet (Bob), the late Nancy
Sherwood (Gene), Kathy Schwarzschild (Alan), and Lisa Harden (Heath). He loved his six
grandchildren, Jonathan Samet (Heather), the late
Larry Samet, Jason Sherwood, Stephanie Adner (Matt), Rachel Wade (Kevin) and Jennifer Robbins
(Jeremy) and his six great-grandchildren, Spencer and Parker Samet, Anna and Emily Wade, and Jordan and Landon
Robbins. He is also survived by his dear brothers, Philip (the late Joyce)
and Melvin (Carole) Falk, and his loving sister, Toba Falk. Mayer loved the water and
boats and spent many years as a volunteer helping to restore the warship
Olympia at the Philadelphia Seaport Museum and the battleship New Jersey. As
a volunteer in the boat shop at the Philadelphia Seaport Museum he helped
build the life-sized replica of the schooner Diligence, which is currently on
display. Everyone who knew Mayer
felt his big heart and giving nature. He always had a story or funny joke to
share. The family would like to
thank the Emergency and ICU at Atlantic General Hospital in Berlin, MD for
their compassionate care during Mayer's short stay. They'd also like to thank
all of their family and friends for their support and prayers. Memorial contributions may
be sent to the Fisher House for Families of the Fallen, 116 Purple Heart Dr.,
Dover AFB, DE 19902. A private service will be
held at Sol Levinson Funeral Home followed by burial in the Garrison Forest
