CLIFFORD JAMES "Pop" BREEDING
Age 92, passed away peacefully at his home on
Saturday, January 6, 2007.
Mr. Breeding was born in Hickman, DE to the late
James A. and Edith Brown Breeding. Cliff was employed by the Sun Oil Company,
Marcus Hook, PA for 31 years (retiring) in 1971. He then went directly to
work for Alfred A. Mousley, then for Wilson T. Davis & son, and 19
years for Breeding & Day, retiring in 2000 at age 85. After the
accomplishment of building their home of 55 years on Foulk Rd., he enjoyed
fox hunting on horseback in his earlier years and fishing, gardening,
bowling, and spending time with all his many friends at Delaware Veterans.
He was an avid traveler, traveling with his wife, Helen, to 48 states,
England, Germany, Hawaii, Mexico, and Canada. Cliff was a member of
Granite-Corinthian Lodge #34, AF & AM, and Chester Bethel United
Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Helen
Talley Breeding; his son and daughter-in-law, Cliff and Beverly; 2
daughters, Nancy Cloud and Bonnie Winward and fiance, Edward Harvey; his
brother, Lou (Elsie); his sister, Mildred Scone; 9 grandchildren, Debbie
D'Marco, Jim Cloud, Brett Breeding (Ginny), Dawn Talley (Jack), Kim Handy,
Stacy Anderson (Bob), and Ashley, Kacie, and Cierra Breeding; 13
great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and
nephews. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Pauline Poole and
Josephine Burke. Pop will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
A viewing for Cliff was held at 10 am, Thursday,
January 11, at the MCCRERY MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, 3924 Concord Pike,
Talleyville (Route 202, south of Silverside Rd.), where a Masonic service
was held at 11:15 am, and the funeral service was held at 11:30 am.
Interment followed at Chester Bethel Cemetery.
