Age 60, of Claymont, DE, died Tuesday,
September 21, 2010, at the Compassionate Care Unit of St. Francis Hospital
in Wilmington, DE, surrounded by his loving family. Born June 17, 1950, he was
a son of Albert Boyd, Sr., (deceased) and Renee Leveille Boyd of Chester,
PA. Albert grew up in Chester, PA and attended St. James High School,
Nether Providence High School, and West Chester University.
Affectionately known as
"Skip" and "Brother Al," Albert was a gifted and
multi-talented jazz musician who was primarily known for his wizardry of
the Hammond organ. Well-known in the tri-state area's music circuit, he
made his living as a master piano technician for the last 30 years. He not
only had a deep interest in both local and world history, but was a
self-professed World War historian. In addition, Al was a proud and active
associate member of Delaware Veterans Post #1 in North Wilmington. He was
an avid fan of the Philadelphia Eagles and also enjoyed bass fishing.
Al is survived by his spouse,
Lynne Boyd of Claymont, DE; daughter, Michelle Boyd Romero of Fort Worth,
TX; son, Thomas Boyd of New Holland, PA; daughter, Adrienne Boyd of New
Holland, PA, siblings, Barbara Barr, Patricia Opdenaker, Thomas Boyd and
Donald Boyd, and grandchildren, Miranda Besecker, Samantha Boyd, Trevor
Boyd, Nicholas Romero and Maxwell Boyd. Al is also survived by numerous
nieces and nephews as well as close friends and family of Central Florida
where he resided between 1987 and 1991.
A service will be held on
Tuesday, September 28, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 3200 Philadelphia
Pike, Claymont, DE 19703 from 4-5 pm. The family may be greeted between
3:30 -4pm.
